Caye Caulker Belize Restaurants Dining

Fresh Seafood...Fresh Fruits...Paradise!

You might believe that long gone are the days were FRESH meant caught or picked that day. On Caye Caulker, FRESH is our way of life!

A favorite Caye Caulker Breakfast is Fresh Tropical Fruits (banana, mango, papaya, watermelon, pineapple, orange and grapefruit) served with Fresh Yogurt and Granola; topped with Tropical Belizean Honey. FRESH!!!

All the Lobster sold on Caye Caulker are caught on the reef only a few minutes from our shore. You can actually sit on the patio of a Caye Caulker restaurant, eating Lobster, staring at the reef where your dinner was caught just a few hours ago. FRESH!!!

And don't miss trying warm Hand-made Tortillas...Coconut Bread....Coconut Crust....

I could go on and on....but I have to go eat!!!

Enjoy!!!

Loney Planet (Country Guide)

"Caulker's hottest restaurant, named for the habanero chili, is located in a brightly painted clapboard house in the center of town.
Here chefs prepare gourment international food, combining fresh seafood, meat and vegetables with insanely delicious sauces and flavors.
Washing it down with a find wine or a jug of sangria. Sit in the funky bar and sip a fruity cocktail or enjoy the buzz and eat by candlelight at the tables on the verandah."

A popular place to sit outside and watch the activity on front street. Indoors has an open, spacious feel to it.

Great night spot!

Don Corleone Restaurant
doncorleone.jpg (117365 bytes) Located on front street at the northern edge of the village of Caye Caulker.

Open everyday, except Sunday, from 7:00 AM until about 11:00 AM for breakfast and 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM for cocktails and dinner.

RASTA PASTA
Description:
This place is central (although everything is pretty central on Caye Caulker!), the portions are huge and they occasionally have live music - we saw Tony Brown, wow! dope! acoustic reggae and blues. When we were there he was playing Sundays and Tuesdays.

The floor is sand, you eat dinner bare foot looking at the ocean. Although not the cheapest place to eat, if you're not into street food, this is probably the next best place to eat.

Favorite Dish:
The giant jerk chicken burrito! it's huge, spicy and relatively affordable; $12 BZE ($6US).
Meals here were anywhere from $5-10US. We only had dinner, so I can't comment on the breakfast.

Sand Box
sandbox1.jpg (38237 bytes) Conveniently located on front street right where the water taxi embarks and disembarks.

Open everyday from 7:00 am until 9:00 pm.

Named the Sand Box because of the sand floors. Also notorious for the names of regular customers carved into the backs of the chairs.

Daily specials - and they almost always have everything on the menu.

Reasonably priced.

A well-designed inside space decorated with local artifacts and a pleasant outside garden for dining. Stop in for a cold one when you get off the water taxi.

The Rainbow Restaurant
rainbowrestaurant.jpg (20530 bytes) Located on front street in the center of the village.

The only restaurant actually out over the water so it's a great location.

Open everyday, except Monday, from 11:00 AM until about 10:00 PM.

A diverse menu specializing in local seafood dishes and traditional Belizean dishes.

The Tropical Paradise Hotel boasts an adjoining cocktail lounge serving local favorites such as Tropical Rum Punch, our own famous Pina Colada and all of your favorites in an informal and carefree atmosphere. Enjoy your favorite cocktail with your meal or take a respite in the lounge.
Glenda's
glendas.jpg (14558 bytes) Located on back street towards the southern end of the village.

Open Monday through Friday from 7:00 am until 3:00 pm.

One of the anchors of the restaurant scene. It's been a favorite of veteran travelers to Caye Caulker for years, and it's very popular with local residents.

Very economical.

Entire menu fits on a small chalkboard in the entrance to the restaurant.
Breakfast choices are scrambled eggs with a choice of beans or ham or bacon, cinnamon rolls, bread rolls or johnny cakes (not listed on the menu). Great fresh-squeezed orange juice.
Lunch choices are burritos, garnaches or rice and beans. Perhaps the best rice and beans on the caye. Make sure you read the chalkboard and place your order at the window before you sit down.

Quaint Caribbean decor.
